Nunavut Impact Review Board Confirms Date for Public Hearing for the Jericho Diamond Project

10/22/2003

Tahera Corporation is pleased to announce that the Nunavut Impact Review Board (NIRB) has set December 1–5, 2003 as the dates for the Jericho Diamond Project Final Public Hearing. The Final Hearing provides a forum for regulators and all other interested parties to discuss the environmental and socio-economic data contained in the Jericho Diamond Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). The NIRB has indicated that the Final Hearing will be conducted in the Nunavut communities of Cambridge Bay, Kugluktuk, and Gjoa Haven.

“This announcement indicates the commitment that the NIRB and other stakeholders have with respect to the Jericho Project environmental review process. The confirmation of the NIRB Hearing dates keeps Tahera on track with its development plans for the Jericho Diamond Project” stated R. Peter Gillin, Chairman and CEO, “and Tahera will fully participate in the process”.

Concluding the Final Hearing will represent one of the final milestones in the regulatory approval process. Following the Final Hearing, the NIRB will execute its decision-making obligations regarding approval of the Jericho Diamond Project EIS.

Jericho Diamond Project Development
Tahera is focused on developing its wholly-owned Jericho Diamond Project as Nunavut’s first diamond mine. The Jericho Diamond Project feasibility study indicates robust economics for a diamond mine centered on the land-based Jericho kimberlite.

Tahera is targeting completion of both permitting and project financing initiatives during 2004, and plans to advance the Jericho Project to commercial production as quickly as possible. When in production, Tahera will be one of only two Canadian public companies with production from a Canadian diamond source and unique in owning 100% of its mine.
