Tahera Corporation is pleased to announce the results of its 2003 summer exploration program.
Nine distinct kimberlite targets (approximately 690 metres of NQ core drilling completed) were tested on the Company’s Jericho Claims during the program, resulting in the discovery of one new kimberlite dyke. The targets were prioritized based on topographic, geophysical, and geochemical anomalies.
The new kimberlite occurs in the Bird Lake area, nine kilometres south of the Jericho pipe. Several unresolved kimberlite indicator mineral trains occur in this highly prospective area. The steeply dipping kimberlite dyke has an inferred width of between 0.6 metres and 1 metre based on six diamond drill holes that intersected it to date. Its strike length is unknown, as only a small area (20 metres of strike) was drill tested during the current program.
Approximately 18 kilograms of kimberlite was collected for microdiamond analysis. The results of this analysis, which will be available during the 4th quarter, will determine the next stage of evaluation with respect to the kimberlite.
During the Jericho Mine development phase, Tahera will continue to explore for additional kimberlites on its wholly-owned Jericho Claims, as previous exploration activities indicate that the claims have high potential for further kimberlite discoveries.
Regional Exploration Approximately 450 till samples were collected during the summer program as part of Tahera’s regional exploration campaign. Results from the sampling program will be assessed to determine future regional exploration initiatives.
Jericho Diamond Project Development A geotechnical drilling program was also conducted on the Jericho Claims during the summer program (273 metres in 11 holes) to collect data to satisfy additional information requests with respect to the Jericho Diamond Project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS). A supplemental document to the previously submitted EIS will be submitted to the Nunavut Impact Review Board. Tahera anticipates that the final public hearings to consider the Jericho Diamond Project EIS will be scheduled during the 4th quarter of 2003.
Michael J. Michaud of SRK Consulting is Tahera’s qualified person for its exploration programs.
