JERICHO CLAIMS
Pursuant to the Letter of Understanding that Tahera Corporation signed with Kennecott Canada Exploration Inc. to joint venture the Jericho Claims (see press release dated September 6, 2001), Kennecott has completed its Fall 2001 exploration program.
The exploration program focused on generating drill targets in an area within a 10 km radius of the Jericho kimberlite, and entailed following up on existing magnetic / EM anomalies, conducting gravity surveys, and prospecting at the head of several unexplained kimberlite indicator mineral trains. Tahera's geological staff contributed to the program. This work revealed four distinct kimberlite float trains that coincide with existing kimberlite indicator mineral trains.
Several high priority kimberlite targets have been identified thus far on the Jericho Claims. Of particular significance is a new occurrence of kimberlite float that was discovered at the southern end of a prominent indicator train which terminates approximately 900 meters west of the Jericho kimberlite. The kimberlite float is relatively fresh and occurs as angular pebbles suggesting a proximal source. A sample of the float, which is very similar to the Jericho kimberlite, has been submitted for analysis. A topographic magnetic/gravity target exists up ice from the float discovery.
Kimberlite targets have also been defined 10 km south of the Jericho kimberlite in the Bird Lake area. In particular, kimberlite targets associated with distinct geochemical and geophysical signatures and associated with the occurrence of kimberlite float have been identified as priority targets for drill testing in the upcoming program.
Kennecott is preparing for an aggressive exploration program on the Jericho Claims that will commence in early 2002. Approximately 20 kimberlite targets will be tested during the 2002 program.
